Telehealth

What is Telehealth ?
Telehealth is a secure, convenient way to access healthcare and professional services between a client and their practitioner, delivered via telephone or video conference.
What do I need for a Telehealth appointment?
To access a Telehealth telephone appointment, you just need a telephone with reception and the practitioner will call you at the appointed time.
To access a Telehealth videoconference appointment, you will need a smartphone or computer (laptop / pc / tablet), reliable internet access, and a data plan with sufficient data and speed to ensure audio-video quality and synchrony without lag.
Prior to your first session, you will receive a secure link to connect to your My Psychology Coach practitioner via our online Telehealth platform.
The Benefits of Telehealth
Telehealth improves clients' access to healthcare and professional services. Evidence is developing that Teleheath services maintain the effectiveness of traditional, in-person sessions.
Clients may prefer to attend sessions remotely for many reasons, including having busy work or personal schedules, the geographic distance of living in rural or remote areas, transport challenges, health reasons, caretaking responsibilities at home, or financial hardship.
Telehealth online sessions bridge the gap efficiently, helping people get the help they want when and where they need it.
Privacy & Confidentiality Policy
Privacy, Information Security & Confidentiality
We take care and all reasonable steps to protect your privacy, information security, and safeguard confidentiality in the collection, storage, access, use, communication, dissemination and destruction of personal information and against its unauthorised access, modification or loss, in physical and electronic environments. Clients are advised to be in a location or room that affords them privacy for the duration of the session. Clients can additionally preserve their privacy and information security and minimise their risk by taking appropriate precautions regarding their own handling of their electronic data (e.g., emails, homework from the practioner, others in the client's environment able to access their electronic devices, email accounts or online activities).
Our practice is compliant with privacy legislation in all Australian federal, state and cross-jurisdictional contexts. Service provision to overseas clients is assessed for eligibility on a case-by-case basis regarding the requirements for insurance and licensing regarding the provision of psychological / professional services in the client's country.
Access to Information
Confidential information is kept for 7 years after the conclusion of service before it is safely destroyed, and clients can request access to their information during that time. Your practitioner can discuss with you appropriate ways to access this.
Confidentiality and Limitations
Confidential case notes and records information are kept to enable the provision of the psychological or professional service and are only seen by your practitioner. Your practitioner may discuss your case, in confidentional and disidentified form, with another qualified mental health professional for the purpose of supervising a health-related treatment. Supervisors are bound to uphold the confidentiality of information. Your personal information is protected by the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act (1988; Commonwealth).
All personal information gathered by the practitioner during the service remains confidential, except, for example, when a legal requirement to disclose exists, e.g., where you were at risk of harming yourself or others and failure to disclose that risk might significantly put at risk the life, health or safety of any party, where disclosure could reasonably be expected to occur to a third party for a reason directly related to the primary purpose for which your personal information was collected, in compliance with a lawful subpoena by a Court, in cases where the legislation with jurisdiction compels mandatory reporting by the practitioner of child abuse or neglect, in writing to your GP in compliance with Medicare and/or Better Access requirements, or where disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law. You may further provide written consent for the practitioner to release confidential information (e.g., a report to a person, court or agency). You may withdraw consent to the service at any time. You are welcome to raise any concerns you have with your My Psychology Coach practitioner.
